Question
What is the best soil for cacti? Sandy loam, fine sand or coarse sand? How do and what to feed?

Answer
Dear Susan,

Actually, I make my own mixture, but generally speaking any mixture that allows for good drainage is best. Typically, the prepared "cactus" mix you can buy at your local nusery or hardware store will work just fine. You can mix in about 1/4 mulch if you like.

Fertilizing is pretty easy. Just follow the directions on the bottle (use a liquid fertilzer), only cut the amount of fertilizer in half. And, only fertilize every other month or so. I use a product called "Superthrive". I hope this helps, good luck!

Sincerely,

Greg
