HI Cindy,

Your questions are a little vague.  I'm not sure what you want to know but Ill do the best I can.

I apologize for the length of time to respond.  I haven't been at my best lately.

1. Cactus are unusual in that they store water in "pads" for long periods of drought.  They often have spines which help absorb water thru the pads themselves since they are generally in very dry locations so that water in the soil disperses quickly

2. Wherever it's native conditions prevail.

3. Food, beauty, protection, oxygen production and food for some of the food we consume.

4. If you aren't interested in knowing how to grow a particular plant, it is not in my opinion necessary to understand the growth process
