Question
I have about a 4" pot of hens & chicks. Have had it for about a month on my end table under large lamp with 40 watt bulb (when it's on at night) and a small window facing it. I live in Maine. Some of the chicks have started to die (sort of rot)...what am I doing wrong??? I luv my plant!

Answer
Dear Barbara,

Unfortunately I don't know as much as I should about Crassulaceae (the family of plants that Hens & Chicks belongs too. The following website ( http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=835731 ) has a lot of great info about your plant. Based on what I have read, they are VERY touchy about watering. As with all succulent plants, letting the soil dry out between waterings is very important. Hope this helps,

Sincerely,

Greg
