Cactus/Moon Cactus getting mushy

Question
i just bought my moon cactus yesterday and it was nice and solid. and today i noticed it is a bit mushy feeling sort of like when a apple or tomato is ripe and ready to eat. im not sure whats wrong with it. and im not sure how to take care of it. i know i have to water it once or twice a month. but  how long should i leave it in the sun light? or tell me why it is getting mushy.
thanks.  Robb

Answer
Robb,

I apologize for the delay in answering you, I have been having computer issues. That plant should not be in direct sunlight. It may be mushy because it needs to be watered, however, it also may be beginning to rot. If that is the case, I would return it to the store and get another one. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg
