Cactus/Ocotillo Propagation

Question
I have an ocotillo that I'd like to get a cutting of to plant in another area of my yard.  What's the best way to do this without hurting the parent plant?  Thank you.

Answer
JoAnn,

Just use a pair of pruning shears or a hack saw. Don't take the cutting from to low on the plant, or it may not root. Once you plant it, do not water. Spray off the plant with a spray bottle once a week or so until it "leaves out". Once that occurs, it should be producing roots. Good luck.

Sincerely,

Greg
