Question
I HAVE HENS AND CHICKS (sempervivum) AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS THE COLDEST TEMP. THAT THEY CAN TOLERATE AND WHEN CAN I TRANSPLANT THEM TO ANOTHER CONTAINER? IS SPRING THE BEST TIME FOR THIS. THANK U

Answer
Dear Jan,

Please go to this website: http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Crassulaceae/Sempervivum_tectorum.html
It has information on the plants you are enquiring about. Please be aware that if they have never been acclimated to your outside enviroment, they may not be able to handle extreme cold, at least during the first year. And yes, spring is the best time to transplant any plant native to the northern hemishpere. Hope this helps!

Sincerely,

Greg
