Cactus/Sick 'wily coyote' cactus

Question
I have a classic 'wily coyote' cactus, given to me as a wedding present. He's about 3 feet tall; and I'm told about 75 years old..
Recently he's developed small white spots extensively, & where these are he's become quite skinny. Is there anything I can do? Any advice would be much appreciated, as he holds great sentimental value. Many thanks.

Answer
Jess,

I have never heard of that cactus and depending on what type it is, it could be either a mealy bug infestation or cochineal infestation. Please check out this web page for treatment options. You can also send me a photo to gregandkat@msn.com so I can identify your plant.

Hope this helps.
