Cactus/Spanish Dagger

Question
Our spanish dagger already bloomed do we cut off the stem or does it fall off?  Will it rebloom?  Thanks,
Becky

Answer
Dear Becky,

I normally leave the dead flower stalk in place until it dries out completely, then I remove it. You should get a new flower stalk each year or so. Unlike Agave's which die after flowering, Yuccas (yours is a Yucca Gloriosa) will flower each year. Hope this helps!

Sincerely,

Greg
