Cactus/Sunlight

Question
I have a Mammillarian and two Pilosocereus Succulents. When I fully acclimate them to sunlight, how many hours of sunlight should they receive? And should it be filtered or direct sunlight? Thanks!

Answer
Dear Shawn,

That depends a lot on where you live. If you are in Phoenix AZ or someplace like that (very hot and intense sunlight), they will need afternoon shade. If you are in southern California, then they should be fine in direct sun all day. Same goes for just about anywhere else.

Cacti always benefit from the most sunlight hours you can give them, so duration is only an issue if they don't get enough. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg
