Question
I purchased a Totem Pole Cactus today and on the way hone it fell over and broke off.  Can the broken off piece about 1 1/2 foot be put in the ground to root?  Also can the roots be planted and expect anything to happen?
Thanks... we were very disappointed with our mishap.  Live in the Phoenix area.

Answer
Doug,

Yes and yes. Let the broken piece "heal" (sit in a shaded area) for at least 2 weeks prior to planting. As for the rooted part, go ahead and plant it. It should eventually sprout arms. In both cases, do not water more than once per month this time of year, by spring they should both be established. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg
