Cactus/Transplanting a cactus

Question
What is the best soil to use to transplant a cactus? And when would be the best time of the day to do this job?

Answer
Dear Chad,

The best soil is a standard "cactus mix" that you can buy from most nurseries. I usually add some sand to the mix depending on the type of plant I am dealing with. You want the soil to retain moisture without staying wet for long periods of time. I don't know what time of day is best, but this time of year is the best time to transplant. Good luck!

Sincerely,

Greg
