Question
Hi My name is Tarryn,   My dad has an aloe vera farm in Mozambique it has been going for about 3 years now. He has noticed that there is a wasp stinging his aloe plants and he thinks it is called eurytoma. I would like to know if there is something that we could spray on the plants that is organic that would either repell or kill the wasps. They are stinging the plants and I think they are laying their eggs in the plants to. Please may you advice me as best you can.   Regards,   Tarryn

Answer
Tarryn,

I had to do some research myself. Eurytoma is a parasitic wasp, but parasitic to other insects, not plants. It deposits the eggs on/in the victim. You may be dealing with some other form of insect, however I am not familiar with African insects. You may want to contact the "Kokerboom Nursery", as they seem to specialize in Aloes. The only contact info I could find is at the bottom of this website: http://www.capewestcoast.org/Towns/VanRhynsDorpMiddel.htm

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg
