Cactus/cactus apples

Question
What do i do after I've picked them? Can I just peel it and eat it? What other ways can I prepare it?

I have not tried it, however I have heard about how to prepare it. I believe it can be eaten skin and all, as long as the spines are cut off. They can also be prepared like any other fruit to make jam. That I do not have a recipe for. Happy eating!
