Question
What is the best way to remove cactus from my land? Will
mowing it spread it further and replant it?

Answer
Dear Wayne,

I am guessing you're talking about removing Opuntias (the prockly pear, flattish, paddle-type leaves)?

Yes, mowing it will spread it. You can always use a herbicide, but that's pure poison on the land.

Hand removal, while a real pain in the butt, is the only effective, non-poisonous way that I know of.

Kind regards and good luck,

Jeff
