what is the function of cactus in their habitats and could that be also useful for our industry

They are a part in any eco system they are in, either as food for animals (fruit & boby of the plant), or in the case of soil erosion. The also are homes for many animals (such as birds) and their skeletons are used for construction material for man.

There are industries that cacti are used for, mainly food (fruit & pads) and as collectibles/landscaping.
