Cactus/mexican fence post having problems

Question
Jeff,

The sticker on the pot says it is a "lemairencereus marginata" which sounds almost the same as what you called it.

I am thinking I will go ahead and transplant it.  I'm just really worried about the top.  It is turning more black.  I hate to cut it off though.  It would really ruin the look of it.  Is there any other solution besides cutting it?

Answer
Dear Gina,

I realize that it would temporarily disfigure it (it may grow back) but there is no other solution that I know of other than removing the rot, if you want to keep it alive - the rot will likely spread to the rest of the plant. Wish I had a better solution, but I don't know of one.

If you'd like to send some pics of it, you can do so to

jharris@seawestwindpower.com

so I can get a better idea of what is going on.

Regards,

Jeff
