Question
I have just moved into a home with beautiful cacti that i have no idea to care for. The  10 ft.fencepost is a foot away from a drip head and is getting 40 minutes of water a day. It is starting to look a bit yellow is it being overwatered?

Answer
Teri,

Water every day is not good. Just to give you a frame of reference, a Mexican fence post (Pachycereus marginatus) that size will survive on rainfall alone in most areas. Places like Phoenix that have very high heat, it will need extra water in summer, but maybe once every 2 weeks at the most (if it is in full sun). Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg
