Question
I have inherited several yuccas in the yard of an older house I just bought.  Some are still brown in May - do I assume they are dead and should I dig them up? What sort of care do the survivors need? Obviously the previous homeowners knew how to care for them in Wisconsin!

Answer
Sue,

If you don't see any new growth from the center of the plant, it is probably dead and should be removed. As far as the survivors goes, they really do not need any special care. Yucca's are pretty tough, but can be sensitive to over watering. The natural rainfall should be plenty for your plants. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg
