Cactus/red grafted cactus

Question
I have a red grafted cactus, which is a little over a year old. I live in Wisconsin, so the cactus is indoors in a pot. Suddenly, I noticed that the red color is fading to a pale shade, and the side that was facing the window is turning black. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks!

Answer
Jason,

Unfortunately, that sounds like sunburn. Those cacti are raised in a greenhouse, not direct sunlight. You plant may either be getting direct sun or reflected sun, which it is not used to. Based on your description, it sounds like the damage is very severe. Unfortunately, it probably won't survive. Sorry for the bad news.

Sincerely,

Greg
