Hello,
We are doing some landscaping and wish to get rid of a cactus garden.  Could you tell me the best way to get rid of cactus without them coming back?
They just do not go with what we are doing in our yard and it is a very large cactus garden.

Dear John,

The most effective way is to remove them by hand - if that's not practical, I guess a herbicide is in order, but that's the least preferable method, as it poisons the earth and may damage the soil.

Another suggestion is to contact a garden club in your area and see if they want to rescue the plants.
