Question
I have 2 questions:
1.  I have a three foot totem pole that looks kind of wrinkly, It gets full sun and water 1x / week. I live in Phoenix. My other totems look great green and firm.
2.  I have 6 totem pole puppies in pots and they look great but how often do I water them? Full sun?

Answer
Bob,

Chances are the one that is wrinkling up has some root damage, and it is either rotting or experiencing a lack of water. Watering once per week seems excessive to me, especially since your plant is capable of surviving severe drought. Once every 2 weeks would be OK when temps are over 110 (as long as they are in the ground). As far as the pups go, water them once per week, and give them afternoon shade. Now that things are cooling off (I also live in the Phx area), you can move them into full sun. Watch closely for sunburn though.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg
