Cactus/transplanting saguaro

Question
We are, unexpectedly, starting a remodelling project. We have a saguaro, about 4 ft tall, and a barrel cactus, about 18 in in diameter, next to the wall where the work is to be done. Can they be successfully transplanted at this time of year? We are south of Tucson.

Answer
Ray,

Yes they can. Just make very sure that you have the same side of the cactus facing south that was facing that way to begin with. Other wise the will sunburn and possibly die. Other than that, just don't over water and they should do just fine. Good luck.

Sincerely,

Greg
