Cactus/When to unbind Ocotillo cactus

Question
Greg,
I am caring for a recently transplanted Ocotillo cactus.  It is approximately five feet in height.  When should the wire tie which holds the branches in a bundle be removed?  Thank you for your assistance.

Answer
Gary,

Actually, you can remove it immediately. You do need to spray off the plant with water every few days until leaves are produced. Once that happens, your plant should be fine. If only the roots are watered, it may not survive. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg
