Question 1991 Sedan DeVille 4.9 liter engine -
Reading other questions/answers here have determined E30and E98 relate to idle speed (which is something I've noticed in the way car drives since light first came on). What is code E39?
Answer E30 = ISC outof range.
E98 = Park to neutral and drive to reverse ISC engaged problem.
E39 = torque converter clutch circuit fault or faulty
soleniod in the transmission.
First CLEAR all the codes from the computer.
Disconnecting the battery does NOT clear the codes.
Re-enetr diagnostics and see what codes return. You should drive the car at 55 to 60 mph for 15 minutes for the E39 code to appear IF it does.
