Question
Hi,
Our 1989 deville has  a strange problem.  When we first got it, everything worked fine.  Then about a month later, the Automatic Climate Control fan wouldn't turn off, and we would have to disconnect the battery so it wouldn't run down.  It then suddenly started working again.  About a month ago, it starting not turning off again, so we started unhooking the battery again.  Now for the really weird part, it was running full blast, then all of a sudden it stopped working, no amount of fooling with the controls or, replacing fuses would get it to start.

I need to have this fixed as winter is coming up, so I thought about just directly wiring a switch from autozone to control the fan, don't know if thats a good or bad idea.

Thanks,

Greg

Answer
That is the WORST idea I have heard in a long time.

The fault is either the:

Fan.

Fan control module.

A/C-Heater programmer.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com in order to obtain the information.
