Question
I have a 1993 Caddy Seville 468..The car will run forever, but when I shut it down it will not start for hours.

IS or HAS the CHECK ENGINE light ever illuminated while driving the vehicle and or has any other lights illuminated or any messages from the message display center ?.

What work or diagnostics of ANYKIND WHAT-SO-EVER have been performed on the vehicle trying to fix this problem ?.



When you go to restart it and it won't start, Try this first:

1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position, But do NOT try and start
  the engine.

2. Listen for the electric fuel pump in the gas tank to run for only
  2 seconds as soon as you turn the key to the ON position ONLY.

Can you hear the fuel pump run for 2 seconds ?. If NOT, Have a friend listen at the gas cap opening with the gas cap OFF.

Check to see if you are getting spark from the spark plug wire to the spark plug by disconnecting one of the spark plug wires and hold the wire about 1/4" away from any metal surface and look to see if it sparks as someone is trying to start the engine.

Do you have spark ?.
