Question
QUESTION:      Hello,
How do I hook up a Hand held Tach/Dwell Meter to get the tach reading off the distributor coil when I have three wires coming off the tach side of the coil to the bottom of the distributor base and one wire that's mark battery that goes to the Main Wiring Harness. The three colors of the wires are pink, brown and black under the Tach side of the coil. The car is an 93 Cadillac Deville, 4.9L. engine.

ANSWER: Attach your tach lead to the wire right next to the BATTERY terminal in the distributor cap.

WARNING: If you accidentally ground out the tach line you will fry the ignition module.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Since the pink wire is closest to the Bat. terminal and brown or black normally are for ground I'm going to use the pink wire.  Is this correct?
Thanks for a quick answer and for the help,
Jimmy

Answer
DO NOT USE THE PINK WIRE.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need a DIGITAL MULTIMETER, Simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com in order to obtain the information.
