Question
I just put in a new battery, and the alternator was changed about a year ago. The car has been sitting since june. What can the cause be for this light to come on.
Either you have a short in the brown wire and or a fault in the alternator internal regulator or a faulty field circuit.
Remove the alternator and take it into most any auto supply store and they will test the alternator for free.
If the alternator tests OK then yiou have a short in the brown wire. If the alternator tests bad, Replace it.
