Windshield wipers don't come on when asked to - but once they decide to come on they work the rest of the time I'm driving.  My mechanic replaced the WW motor and the new motor kept blowing fuses and wouldn't work at all, so after 3 hrs of troubleshooting he put the old motor back on.  Now with the old motor back on the intermittent phase stops the wipers in my field of vision but the low & high settings along with the one time pulse button work and the car smells very electrical.  Any help you can give me will be appreciated and passed on to my very good mechanic, who is today checking all the switches and cursing me under his breath.  The car has very low miles but I have to keep reminding myself all the parts are almost 17 years old.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need a DIGITAL MULTIMETER, Simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture.
