Cadillac Repair/Cadillac PCM Code 076

Question
I have a 1995 Seville STS with 45000 miles. The PCM recently started to throw code 076. The transmission then doesn't engage smoothly into drive, reverse, or park. I know how to reset the PCM to clear the code and have done so a few times. I spoke with a trans mechanic and he thinks the problem is probably an electrical gremlin. What's odd is that the code only appears when the ambient outside air temperature drops below 56 degrees. I've kept track of temps for the past week. Above 60 degrees no code, below 56 degrees code. A head scratcher. Any clue as to what might be the problem.

Answer
what you have is either a temperature sensitive wiring connection inside or outside of the transmission or a faulty temperature sensitive PCM computer.

The first things I would do is to check all the connections at the transmission connector and at the PCM computer that are related to this P076 code.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com in order to obtain the information.
