Expert: autohelp - 9/21/2008

My car runs like a dream and I've never had a problem until the other day.  I started my car just fine and after (I have a 2000 deville) I put it in gear the dash gear indicator never moved although my lever does move.  The car doesn't move out of park but the lever moves fine.  Every thing works but I cant move the car ... whats wrong?

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture.
