Cadillac Repair/77 Seville stalls

Question
When I first start my 77 seville, I have to turn the key and hold my foot on the gas pedal at the same time. I do this about three or four times before it will start. Then I have to keep my foot on the gas pedal until it warms up. If I take my foot off the gas it will cut off. The gas pedal is hard to press. What's wrong?

Answer
Remove the air cleaner and try moving the throttle linkage with your hand and see if you can identify what is causing it to be so hard to open the throttle. It could be a residue buildup within the big round hole where you can see the throttle plates move as you move the gas pedal linkage and or a problem with the sensor.

See if you can e-mail a couple of pictures of the area where you see the throttle linkage move as you push on the gas pedal and e-mail them to: onlineautohelp@msn.com
