Cadillac Repair/Transmission

Question
Just had the Transmission rebuilt in a 1993 Deville. I noticed the gear shift needle lines up in reverse, neutral, drive but not in 3rd, 2nd and fist gears. Also has some play from drive to neutral. Is this normal, i don't think it was this way before trans was worked on. Also the parking brake wont release when shifting into drive. Is this related to the trans. installation.

Answer
The small wire from the gear shift lever is just not adjusted properly. A very simple procedure to adjust it.

The free play from neutral to drive is caused by worn linkages and has NOTHING to do with the internal transmission.

The parking brake is also most likely to be a vacuum problem with the release actuator.
