Question
my 1997 Cadillac Eldorado shakes and shimmys when exceeding speeds of 45 mph and a squealing sound comes from the newly replaced serpentine belt. What could be the cause of these problems?

Answer
When you start feeling the vehicle shaking try this:

while maintaing your speed when the car is shaking use your left foot and just touch the brake pedal just enough to illiminate the brake lights and see if the shaking stops.

Do NOT let off of the accelerator pedal, MAINTAIN your speed when you use your left foo to illuminate the brake lights.

Let me know IF the shaking stops.

As to the serpentine belt. You could have gotten an OLD BELT that has been sitting on the shelf for years. Purchase a spray can of BELT DRESSING and spray the belt and see if the noise goes away.
