I see that the starter is located underneath the intake manifold for the 1996 Cadillac Deville 4.6L Northstar.  How do I access it to replace the bad starter.  Thanks.

Just remove the long bolts of the plenum which is the large aluminum cover on top of the engine to access the starter.

QUESTION: How and by what method did you determine that the starter is faulty as it is RARE that a starter goes bad.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need a DIGITAL VOLT/OHM METER, Simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture.
