I have a 1992 cadillac devill and was wondering if anyone might know why when i take the wires off the map sensor the car will start, but when they are connected all it does is backfire , spit and go about but will not start.

did the CHECK ENGINE light on the dash illuminate just before your problem occured ?.

Do you know HOW to retrieve the CODES from the computer ?.

when you remove the wires from the mAP sensor the computer thinks that you have pushed the gas pedal to the floor and floods the engine with gas.

We need to test the mAP sensor and the wiring to see if it is OK or not.
