i just bought this 87 and was told it had a coolant leak.
with a friends help i saw the leak was coming off the top of the engine between the manifold and what looks like a cover of some sort. the coolant was shooting out like it was pressurized. this was after only just starting it up cold.any ideas would be appreciated and thanks

Could be an INTAKE MANIFOLD or HEAD GASKET LEAK of which the gasket will require replacement.

I can't tell you without seeing the leak which gasket is leaking.

You will need to have a COMPETENT garage that you TRUST pressurize the coolant system to determine where the leak is coming from.

NOTICE: Do NOT use any of those so-called LEAK STOP products that you pour into the radiator as it will eventually clog up your heater core and you will have to replace the heater core in order to get any heat inside for the car for the winter.
