QUESTION: My car overheat light keeps coming on & when I check the radiator it's empty, but when I go to the overflow jug it is full. I can take all the water from the overflow jug & put it in the radiator & it's the same amount that was in the radiator as before & the overflow jug is back where it was. How can I fix this and is the car really overheating? Thanks.

ANSWER: try replacing the THERMOSTAT.

QUESTION: I have already had the thermostat replaced.

ANSWER: Try a new radiator cap.

Answer
NO the car is most likely NOT overheating. as the CHECK ENGINE light on the dash would illuminate.

The 2 main causes are usually the thermostat or the radiator cap. But since they are NEW I would have a look at the temperature light switch.
