Question
Having problem with burning up fuel pumps. Have put in 5 even wired direct. Gave up on that now trying to use in line pump and it won't work for very long either. Any suggestions.

Answer
There are only 3 possibilities for this fault.

1. The gas in the fuel tank is what COOLS the electric motor of the fuel pump. If you constantly run around only putting in $10.00 worth of gas all the time and NOT filling the fuel tank this leaves most of the fuel pump to overheat because it is not being fully submersed in fuel.

2. The fuel relay is stuck and the pump is running ALL the time.

3. installing junk yard or used pumps instead of new ones.

Also check your voltage to the fuel pump and check the ground circuit.

Most new pumps come with a new style connector which you have to cut off the original one and install the new style plug as the old one was causing a bad connection which resulted in low voltage going to the pump thus burning them up.
