Question
My sls starts out in 3rd gear, then at 10mph shifts into second. i have taken to transmission shop and its been there 8 weeks. he's chasing the 1571, 1644 , 1040 codes. Which is fine, but those codes would only serve to disengage 1st gear, allowing for 2nd gear starts, but the car is starting in 3rd. what can be causing this? ebtcm replaced, trans replaced, pcm replaced
Did you have the new PCM programmed (flashed) ?.
Your transmission problems are being caused by a fault in the traction control system.
Fix the traction control problems FIRST, Then clear the codes via the climate control panel or a scanner and see what codes come back as current codes.
