QUESTION: I have an 1988 cadillac deville that has an tranmission leak coming from the tranmission pan. I replace the filter and gasket and it is still leaking from this same area. What other reasons would there be for this leak and how can i repair it quickly?

ANSWER: Are you POSITIVE that your leak at the pan gasket ?. It could be a leaking transmission torque converter seal leak that will drip down from the seal onto the pan gasket and appear to be a pan leak.

QUESTION: I am sure, when i am underneath it i can see it streaming down out of the pan...

How would i check the other, just to make sure its not leaking from both though?

Answer
To check for the trans converter leak, You would need to remove the flywheel cover and look for a stream of fluid coming from behind the converter.

if you are POSITIVE that it is the pan that is leaking. Reove the pan and use some sealant on the gasket AFTER it dries out for a few hours.
