Question
I have a 95 Deville with the 4.9L engine.  It is the base model (8th vin digit is B) and does not have a temperature readout or gauge of any type.  I do not feel comfortable not knowing what the engine coolant temperature is at.  I read that I could program the digital instrument cluster to show the RPM's, battery voltage and the temp by changing the OBD1 IS07 option from 16 to 48.  I ran the OBD1 and found the option but could not figure out how to save the change.  Could you explain how to do this or is there another way to display the temp my engine is running at.

Thank you for your help

Bryan

Answer
There is no way to permanently display the actual engine temp unless you install an external temp gage.

You CAN display the engine parameters that you stated by using the climate control panel but there is no way to have it display them at all times.
