Question
QUESTION: When I first start my Cadillac I hear this squeaking noise under the hood. I think it may be the belt going over the pulleys but I am not sure. Also when I am driving my Cadillac my RPM's start to fluctuate and sometimes it will turn completely off. However, when I try to restart the car after it is turned off it starts again but the RPM's continue to fluctuate. I have taken it to repairs shops time and time again but the RPM's still continue to fluctuate. If you could give me some insight on this problem I would greatly appreciate it.

ANSWER: Spray some silicone and or belt dressing on the belt(s) and see if the squeaking stops.

As for the rpm fluctuations, IS or HAS the CHECK ENGINE light on the dash ever illiminated while driving the vehicle ?.

Answer
Here is how to retrieve the CODES from the computer:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Do NOT try and start the engine.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER (fan up ^) buttons on the climate control panel for 3 seconds and then release them.

3. Look at the fuel data display and watch for a combination of LETTERS & NUMBERS to appear followed by the word History or Current. After the code(s) appear the display will stop at ECM or PCM.

4. Turn OFF ignition switch and let me know what codes you get and which codes are History and which codes are Current.
