Question
QUESTION: i just got my 91 devile running it had sat for a couple of years no spark. changed distributor started. ran rich changes vacume module that controls egr. still ran rich ,jumped the a and b terminal set at 10 before top dead center .changed ecm swaped prom.did good at first then ran rich again but clears up with warm up.changed the plug wires also .checked fuel pressure 40+pounds pressure. I changed the oil and it took 7 quarts and that's a little over full but not much, started up checked for leaks ,pulled it out of the garage parked it in front of the house ,went out the next day and it wouldn't start.checked for spark ,spark good ,put a couple more gallons of gas in,thought I might have got air in the injectors,no start, checked fuel pressure 40+ no start, blead air out through a clear hose put back valve no start, got starting fluid and my son ,we got a start on fluid ,no starting fluid ,no start. my questions are this .the book doesn't show a crank possision sensor in the wire diagram but looking down with a bright light I think I might see one.the part's house say's they don't show one.so that's one question does it have one .and my other question is the wire diagram shows a anti theft injector start up switch is this stoping my injectors from getting juice and if so can  i bypass it .I hope I'm clear enough it's basically does it have a crank sensor one and two is it the anti theft ,,thanks for your time Frank Gamble

ANSWER: Hello,

I do not know what your problem is, but I can tell you what it isn't. It is not an anti-theft problem because although it can cut off fuel, it also shuts the starter down and engine will not crank, which is not the problem you discribe.

QUESTION: CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT EXACTLY MAKES THE INJECTORS GET THERE ELECTRIC PULSE AND WHAT IS THE VOLTAGE READING,THE REASON I ASK IS I CAN'T FIND ANY VOLTAGE WORTH MEASURING.EVEN WHEN I DO A STARTING FLUID START THERES NO VOLTAGE.
I FOUND 2 DEAD FUSE SLOTS AT THE UNDER DASH PANEL AND THEY ARE # 1 AND #2 I ALSO CHECKED THE UNDER HOOD FUSE PANELS AND THEY BOTH CHECKED OUT AS FAR AS FUSES WENT DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WITH THE RELAYS
I THOUGHT THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH AT THE OIL FILTER MIGHT HAVE A PRESSURE SHUT DOWN TO THE INJECTORS SO I PULLED THE CONNECTOR AND PUT MY OHM  METER ON THE SWITCH AND IT CLOSES WHEN CRANKING THE MOTOR .THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

Answer
Hello,

This car is far too old for me to have any manuals on. You can pay $25 to become a member at http://www.alldata.com, you can find your make and model and download all the information you can think of.

I get no commission from this site, it is just where I go when I need all the technical information to a specific vehicle.

Alarm system questions cannot be answered on this forum. These systems are not what I can answer. Without being physically at the vehicle and not knowing what kind of electrical service has been done on the vehicle, there is no possible way to give an accurate answer over the internet. My expertise is in Ignition/key based anti-theft systems. These issues include GM VATS (resistor chip in key blade) PASSLOCK (MRD)-ignition lock rotation based, no special ignition key and the PKIII Transponder (computer chip in key) systems. These systems are not alarm based and are integral with the starting of the engine. This is why I cannot diagnose alarm problems without physically looking at the vehicle: Alarm systems are a completely different annimal than ignition key/lock based anti-theft system. Many alarm questions come from vehicles 10 years old, and since older, many hands that had been involved over the years.I am an expert in all GM factory (ignition/key based)systems. Alarm system questions pose to many situations beyond my knowledge as to what has been done to the vehicle over the years. Some guy may have actually wired the stereo into the alarm system. Who knows? Over my past 30 years in vehicle wiring repair, I have seen unbelievable wiring disaters done by guys that consider themselves "mechanics." I have seen stereos and alarms intalled using surgical tape. I have seen modules burn up, un-fused circuits, wiring jambed between the doors and even lamp cord used for a starter kill. To answer alarm questions over the internet without examining the vehicle is like asking; What does it take to remove a dent?
