Expert: autohelp - 4/1/2010

I recently replaced the ignition lock cylinder and turn signal switch on my 99 deville. since then ive had a problem with battery drain. it is intermittent, however along with it comes crackling thru the speakers as well as what sounds like a ground hum. also the door locks sometimes activate. i have traced the problem back to the comfort fuse circut. idisconected the cd player in the trunk and still have the problem. Prior to the recent work the key fob didnt work. even with new batteries. (bad rfa?) i see this is on the comfort fuse ckt. However its all too coincidental that it started happening right after i did the column work. one last thing...unplugging the main column harness under the dash does not make the problem go away.....

Normal amperage draw when the vehicle is parked for the night is .50 to .55 amps of battery drain.

You need to put an amp meter on the battery cable and see how many amps the system is drawing. If it is over the above said specs you need to start pulling fuses until you find the fuse that is causing the excessive amperage draw. Then you need to start disconnecting, one at a time, each component that is on this fuse until you find the component that is causing the excessive draw.
