Cadillac Repair/serpentine belt

Question
Here is my problem. I own a 2003 cadillac escalade with a dual serpentine accesory drive system. I have replaced both belts, both tentioners, and even the middle pully at the top of the motor, and have even gone so far as to spray belt conditioner on the belts. This helps, but it only lasts as long as the engine is running. When you shut the motor off for a few hours, and then crank it up, BOING!!!! that same dreaded squealing that was gone a few hours before. This is the 5.3L V8 engine. Any ideas?? Please help. This is the wifes car and she is making me crazy!!!

Answer
Hello,

Unfortunately, I have questions--Did this problem start out of the blue? Then you chased it by changing the pulleys and then the belts? Did you change the belts before the pulleys or at the same time? I have reasons for asking. Was any service work done on the vehicle before this started?

The reason I ask these things is because I am very methodical. Do we know if both belts are squealing or just one?

I also want you to go to http://www.nhtsa.gov. Go to TSBs for your SUV. Use the scroll list to find your vehicle. They may have a technical service bulletin on this problem. You might as well look for recalls while you are at it. TSBs are for known problems that the average person does not know about and could be possibly be there for your problem.

When you do all that and answe my questions and we will try to make Momma happy! Trust me, I know your situation with my wife's Navigator. Can't have any noises! LOL

Alarm system questions cannot be answered on this forum. These systems are not what I can answer. Without being physically at the vehicle and not knowing what kind of electrical service has been done on the vehicle, there is no possible way to give an accurate answer over the internet. My expertise is in Ignition/key based anti-theft systems. These issues include GM VATS (resistor chip in key blade) PASSLOCK (MRD)-ignition lock rotation based, no special ignition key and the PKIII Transponder (computer chip in key) systems. These systems are not alarm based and are integral with the starting of the engine. This is why I cannot diagnose alarm problems without physically looking at the vehicle: Alarm systems are a completely different annimal than ignition key/lock based anti-theft system. Many alarm questions come from vehicles 10 years old, and since older, many hands that had been involved over the years.I am an expert in all GM factory (ignition/key based)systems. Alarm system questions pose to many situations beyond my knowledge as to what has been done to the vehicle over the years. Some guy may have actually wired the stereo into the alarm system. Who knows? Over my past 30 years in vehicle wiring repair, I have seen unbelievable wiring disaters done by guys that consider themselves "mechanics." I have seen stereos and alarms intalled using surgical tape. I have seen modules burn up, un-fused circuits, wiring jambed between the doors and even lamp cord used for a starter kill. To answer alarm questions over the internet without examining the vehicle is like asking; What does it take to remove a dent?
