Question
QUESTION: I have a 1992 cadillac deville I pulled one of the fuses out from under the passenger side dash for the a/c it was blown. I replaced it and then the a/c service light came on. The compressor does not come on and the a/c heat does not work either. Could that be because of the ecm box because it has been replaced before. Also when the a/c and heat went out my cruise control went out. Thats why I think it is that ecm box. Thanks for any help.

ANSWER: Hello,

Look, I don't like guessing. It costs money and fuels frustration. You are working in the blind here. I have recommended others many times and it is what I would do at this point. I do not know if they go that far back and you need to check http://www.alldata. com where you can download a factory service manual instantly. Costs 430 if they have it and it will save you many headaches with the diagnostic flow charts.
If they don't have it, you will have to go on Ebay or Craigs list. No ther manual will assist you better than the factory service manual for the car.

Good luck!

QUESTION: Hi I have a 1992 cadillac deville do you know what the pressure ratings for r12 are in the car thanks.

Answer
Hello,

It's been that long since I worked with 12. On a not real humid day, I believe it was around 100 pounds on high side 30-40 pounds on the low side.

As I said before though, if you are keeping the car-$30 for a one year membership to download the factory manual. If they don't go back that far, find a factory manual on Ebay or Craig's list.

Every car I own, I have a factory manual. It covers just about every repair you need to do and guessing will get you into trouble and the manuals that you can buy at an automotive store don't get it. Just fr too general. Now, on your Cadillac I think you would need the mechanical and a seperate for electrical.

The reason I personally like All Data is for the makes models and years I get involved with, is that they cover all manuals. I paid $30 on the first car and all additional cars are about $16 for a one year download I get instantly. If they go back even to 1993, that will work for you.

If my answer assisted you in any way, please rate my answer. I do not get compensated for my answers and just try to assist everyone as best as I can. Thank you

Alarm system questions cannot be answered on this forum. These systems are not what I can answer. Without being physically at the vehicle and not knowing what kind of electrical service has been done on the vehicle, there is no possible way to give an accurate answer over the internet. My expertise is in Ignition/key based anti-theft systems. These issues include GM VATS (resistor chip in key blade) PASSLOCK (MRD)-ignition lock rotation based, no special ignition key and the PKIII Transponder (computer chip in key) systems. These systems are not alarm based and are integral with the starting of the engine. This is why I cannot diagnose alarm problems without physically looking at the vehicle: Alarm systems are a completely different annimal than ignition key/lock based anti-theft system. Many alarm questions come from vehicles 10 years old, and since older, many hands that had been involved over the years.I am an expert in all GM factory (ignition/key based)systems. Alarm system questions pose to many situations beyond my knowledge as to what has been done to the vehicle over the years. Some guy may have actually wired the stereo into the alarm system. Who knows? Over my past 30 years in vehicle wiring repair, I have seen unbelievable wiring disaters done by guys that consider themselves "mechanics." I have seen stereos and alarms intalled using surgical tape. I have seen modules burn up, un-fused circuits, wiring jambed between the doors and even lamp cord used for a starter kill. To answer alarm questions over the internet without examining the vehicle is like asking; What does it take to remove a dent?
