Cadillac Repair/Cadillac Cimarron Issues

Question
Hello,
I have a 1987 Cadillac Cimarron, The air is not blowing out of my a/c, the light light up, you can feel a little bit of cold coming out of the system but no fan blowing the air out.

Also about a week after that the driver door window switch is dead. I tried replacing it but still dead. The other windows roll up from their perspective doors, but not from the 4 switch on driver door.

I think the 2 may be related to something but not sure what. Checked fuses and relay, even replaced fuses and relay to be certain.

Answer
Hello,

Two separate and un realated issues. Door window. Very common for wires to break in the rubber boot of the driver's door. If you open the door and look inward at the pinch point, you will see the boot. There is also the possibility your replaced switch is no good if you got it from a junk yard.
You need to pull the switch off and test with a test light for power. If you have power going to the left window switch, the second switch is junk too.

If the heater blower set up is the same as an Eldo or a Deville, the resistor module is junk and finding one is almost impossible at $300. all you can do is bypass with a toggle giving you only off and hi blower.
If equipped the module is easy to spot. just follow the blower wire upward. If you come across a module with clear shiny stuff, that's what you have. Notorious Cadillac issue. If you need the canned answer for bypass, I can supply it.

Alarm system questions cannot be answered on this forum. These systems are not what I can answer. Without being physically at the vehicle and not knowing what kind of electrical service has been done on the vehicle, there is no possible way to give an accurate answer over the internet. My expertise is in Ignition/key based anti-theft systems. These issues include GM VATS (resistor chip in key blade) PASSLOCK (MRD)-ignition lock rotation based, no special ignition key and the PKIII Transponder (computer chip in key) systems. These systems are not alarm based and are integral with the starting of the engine. This is why I cannot diagnose alarm problems without physically looking at the vehicle: Alarm systems are a completely different annimal than ignition key/lock based anti-theft system. Many alarm questions come from vehicles 10 years old, and since older, many hands that had been involved over the years.I am an expert in all GM factory (ignition/key based)systems. Alarm system questions pose to many situations beyond my knowledge as to what has been done to the vehicle over the years. Some guy may have actually wired the stereo into the alarm system. Who knows? Over my past 30 years in vehicle wiring repair, I have seen unbelievable wiring disaters done by guys that consider themselves "mechanics." I have seen stereos and alarms intalled using surgical tape. I have seen modules burn up, un-fused circuits, wiring jambed between the doors and even lamp cord used for a starter kill. To answer alarm questions over the internet without examining the vehicle is like asking; What does it take to remove a dent?
