Question
the fluid H cm in a vessal at the time t is given by
H=16+4t+2t^2-t^3/16
what is the rate which depth is changinging after 4 min?
if the csa is circular of dia 2m; what is the rate of filling after 4 mins?

Answer
The rate of change is the value of the derivative.  The derivative is found by applying d(x^n)/dx = nx^(n-1) to each term.

I will assume H is for height.   To find the change after four minutes, take the derivative and put in 4 for x.

If the surface area is a circle with diameter 2m, then the radius is 2m/2 = 1m.  This is the value for r and the surface are is πrē.  The derivative should tell us how fast the height is changing, so multiply by the area to get the change in volume.

I'm not sure what is meant by 'csa'.
