Hi,

I need to show that:

||x -y||*||x +y|| ≤ ||x||² +||y||²

I've tried many things and no luck, any help would be greatly appreciated.  I really need help with this problem, I feel like I'm going in circles.

If is known that (x-y)(x+y)=x²-y²<=x²+y².
There are only four choices to consider since for any x and y values, x²>0 and y²>0.  The four choices are:
x-y, x+y negative
x-y positive, x+y negative
x-y negative, x+y positive
x-y, x+y positive
Write out the equation with the absolute values gone and the appropriate sign changes.

I have been nominated as the expert of the month several times. All of my scores right now are at least a 9.8 average (out of 10).
